Lateral force–displacement response of buried pipes in slopes

چکیده
A series of full-scale experiments was conducted to estimate lateral soil constraints on pipes buried in dense sandy slopes at different burial depths. The experimental data indicated that the force pipe increases with increase slope grade and depth ratio. against relative displacement response observed from is presented compared those arising level ground conditions. study extended larger ratios by simulating under sloping conditions using a numerical (finite-element) model initially calibrated results physical modelling. findings terms variation peak restraint as function ratio are for consideration pipeline design.

Soil-Structure Interaction of Buried Pipes Under Cyclic Loading Conditions
The safety of lifelines, as the most important urban facilities, under different conditions highly depends on the safe design and performance of these buried structures. This cannot be achieved unless their actual behaviors are well understood and considered at the designing stage. A new physical model was developed in Amirkabir University of Technology to study the behavior of buried pipes und...

in this research a numerical analysis using plaxis program has been carried out to investigate the behavior of buried concrete box culverts different parameters including load types, loading locations, culvert dimensions, underlying soil specifications, and the coefficient of earth pressure- at- rest. for modeling purpose, patch loading of rtuck or military tank has been substituted to an equiv...
متن کاملThe design of a laboratory facility for evaluating the structural response of small-diameter buried pipes
The design of a new laboratory facility for evaluating the structural response of small-diameter buried pipes (e.g., leachate collection pipes in landfills) is presented. The pipe is tested within a 2.0 m wide, 2.0 m long, and 1.6 m high prism of soil, subject to large vertical pressures (1000 kPa), with only minimal roughness and deflection of the lateral boundaries. Results from finite elemen...
متن کاملAcoustic Wave Propagation in Water Filled Buried Polyethylene Pipes
Axisymmetric acoustic wave-modes propagating along buried water pipes have been investigated by the method of finite elements and experimentally. High precision dispersion relations are presented in this paper as a function of the geometry, the embedding material and the elastic modulus of the pipes. It is found that at low frequencies the fundamental axisymmetric acoustic mode of the water cyl...
متن کاملThe Investigation of Subsidence Effect on Buried Pipes in 3D Space
Buried pipes in the modern societies are considered as lifelines with a vital and essential role in the human life cycle. The performance of buried pipes is affected by many factors such as ground surface subsidence. In this paper, the effect of subsidence on pipelines is investigated using a three-dimensional numerical modeling developed in FLAC3D software for four types of most commonly used ...
